The Why of Windborne Ways
There is rapidly growing evidence about the benefits of engaging in mindfulness. Because of these exciting discoveries there has been an explosion of gadgets, apps, books, and articles designed for learning more about these practices.
I believe the best way to learn about mindfulness is through direct experience with a qualified teacher.

About Dr. Ballinger
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, Board Certified Neurotherapist and Certified HeartMath Practitioner. In May of 2013, I earned my Ph.D. in counseling from the University of North Texas (UNT), located in Denton County just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth or DFW Metroplex.
My own interest in mindfulness began over 20 years ago. During my doctoral education at the University of North Texas, my research focus was on mindfulness and its benefits. I am currently co-owner of Guiding Compass Counseling—located in Flower Mound, TX—where I provide therapy for children, teens, adults, and families.
I completed a 2-year certification program through the Awareness Training Institute supported by the University of California at Berkeley and taught by Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach and an extensive list of mindfulness experts in the field today. Through this course I have participated in over 130 hours of classes and over 50 hours of mentoring and peer support. I am also currently completing an in-depth teacher training program through the Compassion Institute
